Delta Court Adjourns Sanwo-Olu’s Paternity Case To February 13

A Delta State High Court 2 sitting at Effurun in Uvwie local government area has adjourned a suit instituted by a 27 years old man, Emmanuel Moses claiming to be the son of Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu till February 13, this year.

The case was adjourned yesterday due to the absence of the trial Judge, Roli Daibo-Harrison.

The claimant had in Suit No: EHC/148/2022 between Emmanuel Moses and Babajide Sanwo-Olu, averred that he was the conjugal product of a congenial relationship that existed between his mother, Grace Moses, and the defendant in 1994/95.

Also in his writ of summons issued by J. O. Aikpokpo-Martins, Esq, the claimant is praying the court for a “A declaration that the defendant is the biological father of the claimant begotten from Madam Grace Moses of Oleri, Delta State.

“An order directing and compelling the defendant to acknowledge and accord the claimant all the rights of a son in accordance to all the laws applicable whether customarily, statutorily, or constitutionally.

“An order of perpetual injunction restraining the defendant from further denying the parenthood of the claimant.”

The claimant, in the 19-paragraph statement of claim attached to the writ, claimed that Governor Sanwo-Olu was a staff of a private company operating in Warri and its environs in Delta State from 1994 to 1995, and in the course of working and living in Warri that period, he had an amorous relationship with a girl known as Grace Moses from Oleri village near Warri metropolis, Delta State from between 1994 and 1995.

Speaking to Journalists at the premises of the court, 47 years old mother of the claimant, Grace Moses urged the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu to come and collect his child from her.

“My message to Sanwo-Olu is that, he should come and collect his child. The baby is grown up. He is troubling me. If not for God, I would have been dead by now”, she said.

Grace disclosed that because of the pregnancy, she couldn’t go to school due to pressure from her mother who chased her out of the house because they had waited for Sanwo-Olu to no avail.

She said, in her bid to also abort the baby, she drank “lime” saying,”E nor dey commot.”

The mother of the claimant said she started selling pig for people and she was paid one hundred and fifty naira which she used as upkeep for herself and the baby.

“The baby is now grown and he is threatening to kill me if I do not show him his father” adding that she met the governor in 1995 when she was 19years old.

She said Governor Sanwo-Olu was working with construction firm at Ubogo Community in Udu Local Government Area at the time.

Grace Moses said they began a relationship which resulted in pregnancy pointing out that the governor took her to a hospital in Agbarho Community, Ughelli North Local Government Area where he terminated the pregnancy.

The woman said after few days Governor Sanwo-Olu also had affairs with her which resulted in another pregnancy.

According to the woman, since then Mr. Sanwo-Olu abandoned her and traveled out of the State on the grounds that he was transferred to work in Maiduguri,Borno State.

She said,she was left to carry the pregnancy and delivery of the baby all alone without the assistance of Sanwo-Olu and any member of his family.

Grace Moses told her son, Emanuel Sanwo-Olu that his father is not a cripple. “Your papa is not a cripple. Sanwo-Olu is his name. He use left hand for anything. He doesn’t wear busty hair. He always have low cut. Your father is Yoruba man. He always put hands in his pocket.”

Grace Moses noted that up till now, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has refused to grant her and the son, Emmanuel Sanwo-Olu audience or to see them.

Emmanuel Moses said Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has not reached out to him since last year and attempts for him to meet him were unsuccessful as well.
