Delta Police Arrest Suspected Drug Baron, Three Others In Statewide Raids

The Delta State Police Command has recorded major breakthroughs in its ongoing operations against drug-related crimes, arresting a suspected drug baron and three other suspects during coordinated raids across the state.

In a statement issued on Saturday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, the command said operatives also recovered large quantities of suspected hard drugs during the operations.

According to the statement, on April 15, 2026, at about 10:23 p.m., Anti-Crime Patrol operatives attached to Otorokpe Division raided a drug hideout in Ugholo community and arrested a 33-year-old woman identified as Justina Onokpasa.

During the operation, the police recovered two large bags of weeds suspected to be Canadian Loud, 300 small cans of substances also suspected to be Canadian Loud, 30 bottles of CSC codeine, 10 sachets of tramadol, two sachets of “Super Royal” (Redboy), 12 sachets of Swinol, 12 pieces of molly drugs, and 400 empty distribution cans.

The suspect is currently in custody while investigations continue.

In a separate operation on April 16, 2026, at about 11:45 a.m., operatives of the State Anti-Cult Unit (SACU) raided suspected drug spots in Abraka and arrested three suspects.

The police said large quantities of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp and other illicit substances were recovered during the raid.

The suspects are also in custody as investigations are ongoing.

The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, commended the operatives for the successful operations and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to sustaining the fight against drug-related crimes across the state.

He also urged members of the public to continue supporting the police with credible information that could help in tackling criminal activities.
